Agrobs Pre Alpin® Senior 12,5kg

Agrobs Pre Alpin® Senior are dry green fibres, especially for older horses or for horses that can no longer chew forage sufficiently.
The fibre length of approx. 3 - 20 mm corresponds to the ground forage in a healthy horse's teeth. Agrobs Pre Alpin® Senior is free from dust and mould and fully meets the requirement for crude fibre.
According to the literature, a horse is considered "old" from an age of approx. 18 - 20 years. However, there is no standardised definition for this.
The fact that horses are ageing can be recognised by the greying of hair in the head area, changes in metabolism, reduced regenerative capacity and complete abrasion or loss of teeth. The needs of older horses, which generally utilise their feed less effectively, must now be taken into account. The feeding goal of old horses should be adequate energy and nutrient intake in order to maintain good body condition.
In most cases, the biggest problem here is the complete wear and tear of tooth reserves or the loss of individual teeth. It is becoming increasingly difficult for horses to chew basic feed and salivate sufficiently. Signs of this are the formation of "hay rolls". The insufficient intake of crude fibre causes horses to lose body weight, the intestinal flora is disturbed and diarrhoea or colic are often the result. Forage is and remains the basis of horse nutrition, even in old age. If there are problems with the intake of basic feed, sensible alternatives must therefore be found. Counteracting this by increasing the amount of concentrated feed usually only brings short-term success; in the long term, the nutritional condition deteriorates.
