Straw is a welcome supplementary feed. Its primary purpose is not to provide nutrients, but to encourage chewing, promote satiety and supply crude fibre.
Straw must be of impeccable hygiene. It must not smell musty and should be free from any contaminants. To ensure the highest quality feed straw, AGROBS straw is dried with hot air after harvesting and is also dust-removed.
The use of AGROBS straw is recommended:
- to enhance the quality of roughage
- as a low-energy activity feed
- in straw-free bedding to ensure a sufficiently long chewing time as a supplement to hay, grass and concentrated feed
- where straw quality is poor – particularly for animals with allergies
