Teff grass (hot air-dried, pelletised)
Product information "Agrobs Teffcobs 20kg"
Metabolically sensitive, stomach-sensitive or allergic horses require special care - also when feeding. Teff grass has the ideal properties for this: It is exceptionally low in sugar and fructan, provides highly digestible crude fibre and supports the muscles as a natural source of protein. The tasty cobs are therefore a reliable partner in the gentle and balanced nutrition of sensitive horses.
Teff grass (lat. Eragrostis tef) is an ancient cultivated plant from East Africa. While native grasses store more sugar and fructan when it is hot or dry, teff grass produces valuable leaf mass instead. This keeps it permanently low in sugar and fructan and rich in vital nutrients. This natural stability makes AGROBS® TEFFCOBS a reliable and future-proof forage - even in increasingly dry summers.
AGROBS® has been successfully growing teff grass in Bavarian fields since 2024. The demanding cultivation requires experience, sensitivity and suitable site conditions. This means that a valuable fodder plant that has hardly been used in Europe to date is now available regionally for the first time.
Whether for leisure horses or senior horses - teff cobs are versatile: the soft, tender stalks of the so-called "love grass" provide healthy crude fibre, are easily digestible and are naturally almost starch-free - making them particularly gentle on the stomach. As a single-ingredient food, it is suitable for exclusion diets, allergies and intolerances. Thanks to the favourable calcium-phosphorus ratio, it is also a well-tolerated roughage or concentrated feed for horses that are sensitive to high amounts of calcium. At the same time, the tasty cobs are easy to soak, making them a good choice for older horses with limited chewing ability.
AGROBS® TEFFCOBS are a valuable alternative for horses that are dependent on a low-sugar and low-fructan diet. As a low-sugar grass species from Bavarian cultivation, they combine innovation, regionality and compatibility - for a natural and needs-orientated nutrient supply for sensitive horses - today and in the future.
Field of application:
