The horse's stomach is very sensitive, so problems can easily occur. Gastric ulcers are a common stomach problem in horses. In addition to good (feed) management, an adapted feed can support your horse's healthy stomach function. Pavo GastricEase Muesli is a complete concentrate for horses with a sensitive stomach. In addition to supporting the stomach, it provides your horse with all the nutrients it needs on a daily basis during no or light work.
Pavo GastricEase not only supports the neutralisation of stomach acid through its high fibre content, but is also enriched with calcified algae (AveMix® Calitho). The long-lasting buffering effect is the special feature of the calcified algae. This means that there is no rapid peak, but a gradual and long-lasting neutralising effect is achieved. In addition to promoting chewing activity, dietary fibres offer many other benefits. In particular, (desugared) beet pulp and apple pomace are of great value as they have a high pectin content. Pectin has a positive effect on the growth of good bacteria in the gut, but also forms a gel-like layer on the stomach wall. This layer protects the sensitive wall from the highly acidic stomach acid. For a healthy horse's stomach, it is important that contact between the stomach acid and the sensitive upper part of the stomach wall is minimised.
Your horse's stomach wall is generally sensitive, but becomes even more sensitive under stress. During stress, the body produces substances that influence susceptibility to damage from stomach acid. Another special ingredient in Pavo GastricEase is Macleaya extract (Sangrovit®). This is a proven ingredient in many feeds that has been shown to help minimise stress.
Pavo GastricEase has a low sugar and starch content, which is a good prerequisite for horses with stomach problems. Part of the fermentation of sugar and starch takes place in the stomach. If you feed your horse an excessive amount of sugar and starch at once, lactic acid will be produced during fermentation. High amounts of lactic acid lead to increased acidification of the stomach, which further attacks the stomach wall. A low sugar and starch value in combination with small feed portions is optimal to keep your horse's stomach wall healthy.
Stomach problems can also affect gut health. To support a healthy and balanced gut, Pavo GastricEase is supplemented with prebiotics and probiotics. Prebiotics feed the good bacteria in the gut and contribute to a positive microflora. The probiotics belong to the good bacteria and also help to stabilise the microflora and improve digestibility. The well-known and proven probiotic Yea Sacc® is used in Pavo GastricEase.
Feeding Pavo GastricEase supports the horse's stomach. It also fulfils your horse's daily requirement for vitamins and minerals. This balanced muesli also contains the right amount of energy and protein for horses that only do light work.
