Colostrum:Colostrum

Foal Milk:Skimmed milk powder, whey powder, palm kernel oil, dextrose

Step 1: Preparation of 1 litre of foal milk (1 litre = 1000 ml)
- Take a pot with a capacity of at least one litre
- Fill the pot with 300 ml of cold water
- Add 400 ml boiling water. You now have 700 ml of water with a temperature of ± 60 °C
- Add 1 measuring spoon (= 100 g) of Pavo Foal Milk Powder to the water and stir until the powder is completely dissolved.
- Add 300 ml of cold water, stirring constantly. You now have 1 litre of lukewarm foal milk (temperature ± 40 °C)

Step 2: Preparation of Biestmilch
-Stir the contents of one sachet of Pavo-Biest into 1 litre of lukewarm foal's milk until the powder has completely dissolved

Step 3: Feeding the Biestmilch:
- Cut off the top tip of the teat with scissors. This creates a small opening through which the foal can suck up the milk
- Give the foal approx. 250 ml of lukewarm Biestmilch (± 40 °C) every two hours using the teat bottle provided

Repeat steps 1 to 3 to prepare the second sachet of Pavo-Biest. After administering the second sachet of Pavo-Biest, the foal can be fed exclusively with Pavo foal milk Try to give the foal small amounts of milk often (horses 18 times 400 ml, ponies 18 times 240 ml)

Preparation tip
- Use the Pavo S.O.S. pack immediately after the foal is born if the mare has problems with the milk. (best administered 3 hours, but no later than 12 hours after birth)
- To be on the safe side, have the foal examined by a vet within 24 hours.
- Biestmilch is best warmed in a water bath, as this prevents it from burning or curdling.
- Never heat Biestmilch in the microwave, as the protective effect of the antibodies decreases under the influence of high temperatures! However, foal milk can be warmed up very well in the microwave.
